I recently posted my ultrasound pictures on facebook and I promised my sister that I would also post them elsewhere on the web because she refuses to indulge the colossal waste of time that is social networking. So really this blog is for her. And the rest of my family. Because we're expecting and my oldest sister posts pictures of her kids on her blog and I thought that since all of the cool kids are doing it, I should too.
You might be wondering about my blog's name. I assure you that there is a reason for it. My husband and I were married two years ago in October so when Christmas time rolled around we were still newly weds and everything was still sinking in. For Christmas that year my mother-in-law gave me a baking dish with our last name etched on it. "It's so that when you take a casserole to a church function you will always get your dish back, " she explained. And that's when it hit me: I was married. I was now in that stage of my life when you take casseroles to church functions and worry about getting your dish back. This was a whole new idea to me. I had never even made a casserole before.
I have little revelations like that all the time now; especially since we are expecting. I remember things about the way my home was run growing up and think "Yeah, I should probably start doing that now." Like having food storage or getting a napkin holder.
My DH is having similar thoughts. Just last Sunday he came home from church and said that he was going to sell all of his video games and buy a keyboard so that he could go back to playing the piano. I thought "Yeah, okay I'll believe it when I see it." But sure enough, Monday he came home from work, packed up all his games and sold every last one. He got a decent amount of money too. Enough to buy himself a very nice keyboard that he can really practice on. He took lessons when he was younger but we have never had the room or money for a real piano so it has been a while since he last played. He practices everyday and has improve vastly just in the few days he has had his keyboard.
I have to say I'm very proud of him. It was hard for him to do but he followed through because he doesn't want our children to waste as much time on video games as he has. More importantly: getting rid of all his video games was not my idea. I just want to make that point clear.
Anyway, I know that what you really want to see is the ultrasound pictures so enjoy.
